The Pointer Sisters are an American R&B recording act from Oakland, California that achieved mainstream success during the 1970s and 1980s. Spanning over three decades, their repertoire has included such diverse genres as pop, disco, jazz, bebop, blues, soul, funk, dance, country and rock.
The group had its early origins when sisters June and Bonnie Pointer began performing in clubs in 1969 as "Pointers, a Pair". The line-up grew to a trio when sister Anita Pointer joined them. They scored a record deal with Atlantic Records and released several unsuccessful singles. The trio grew to a quartet when sister Ruth joined in December 1972. They then signed with Blue Thumb Records, recorded their debut album, and began seeing more success. The group achieved its greatest commercial success as a trio during the 1980s consisting of the line-up of June, Ruth, and Anita. Bonnie had left the group in 1978 to commence a solo career with only modest success.
As children in West Oakland, California, the Pointer sisters and brothers were encouraged to listen to and sing gospel music by their parents Reverend Elton and Mrs Sarah Pointer. However, they were told rock and roll and the blues were "the devil's music", and it was only when they were away from their watchful parents that they could sing these styles. They regularly sang at the Church Of God (Anderson, IN) in West Oakland, but as the sisters grew older their love of other styles of music began to grow. When June, the youngest sister, brought home a copy of the Elvis Presley record All Shook Up, she was surprised that her mother allowed her to play it, until discovering that her mother had been pacified by the song "Crying in the Chapel" on the "B" side of the record.

its a good thing that i cant sleep
but i stay up all night a start to weep
like a willow tree cought in the rain
i get that thought again and agian
i cloose my eyes but sece to dream
like i lost time an empty steam
of thoughts runnin through my head
and i wake and wish world was dead
turn turnin in to sunlight
my skin dont burn as i fall fall in full flight
i bloom with flower
soft the rain
im stern like a tower
again and again
i cry
cry with the wolves they stare
and i think am i really there
walk down arond and around
the people talking but theres no sound
climbing the mountain swimin the ocean
cry but see nothing is there some solotion
look down around
why cant i fall into picture
no sound (no sound)
is there any victor
turn turnin in to sunlight
my skin dont burn as i fall fall in full flight
i bloom with flower
soft the rain
im stern like a tower
again and again
i cry
cry with the wolves they stare
and i think am i really there
i live a life of hurt and pain
all wanta do is the chain
yeah yeah think about it
people only stop to spit
im out to steal i dont deserve
round the bend i drop the curve
turn turnin in to sunlight
my skin dont burn as i fall fall in full flight
i bloom with flower
soft the rain
im stern like a tower
again and again
i cry
cry with the wolves they stare
My voice is tired I can barely speak a whisper
These words clear our minds
And these broken bottles and glasses
Heal our lives
So drinks to the skies and blood to your eyes
This rooftop is understanding
Swallow your pride or choke till you die
Cause this fall is unforgiving
So call on your angels to catch your fall tonight
I'm crawling on my hands
Pouring out my insides
I'll wait for you
Hoping you change your mind
Hoping is all I can do
These days are tired
And these nights are overwhelming
As we spoke through silence
A routine silence with nothing more to say except
Drinks to the skies and blood to your eyes
I'll be understanding tonight
I'll wait for you
Hoping you change your mind
Hoping is all I can do
I'm dying cause you're leaving
Hopes abandoned and my heart still beating
But I never gave up trying
I did everything for you
Another day closed in my mind
Think of the things they say I like
They take my time I loose the sight
Of all the things I really need
Scared of anything I'm not
I'm looking for the answer you've got
I'm not made up of what you
I'll catch the secret
And put it in my head
I won't let them the chance to use me anymore
I Feel confused now
And lost inside me
cause they want me to give up everything I love
And while they're trying to waste my time
Condemning people for every kind
Of difference as a human race
I'm makin' my own theory
Now I've got an answer
Now I Know There's something wrong
You're what you have not what you are
I catch the secret
And put it in my head
And Now I'm Sure that they won't use me anymore
I Felt confused there
And lost inside me
But now I won't give up everything that I love
I won't believe you care at all
And everytime that you'll say goodbye
I'll watch my back from your hate
For every people who fells in disgrace
For every prayer to God that I made
For every time I lost my pride
I catch the secret
And put it in my head
And Now I'm Sure that they won't use me
I Felt confused there
And lost inside me
It's not quite disaster
But were in the dark
Let's now wait till after
It all goes too far
Cause I'm a little blurry
I can't find you lately
When will we appear clearly?
I know that something unseen
Was caught in between
What do we mean anymore
And what have we won
By coming undone
What are we fighting for
Help me cause I don't want to lose
Help me cause I don't want to let you down
This love has taken too much
It's breaking us bit by bit
I don't see the point of this
Help me see the point of this
Love's our survival
Not when it begins
Are we still untitled
Or is this the end
Cause look what we've undone now
You could reach me somehow
You could find I'm still yours now
I know that something unseen
Was caught in between
What do we mean anymore
And what have we won
By coming undone
What are we fighting for
Help me cause I don't want to lose
Help me cause I don't want to let you down
This love has taken too much
It's breaking us bit by bit
I don't see the point of this
Love. Blood. War.
Design. Deceit. Control.
There's no one here for everyone.
Just stick around until I'm gone.
I love you so, it hurts.
For whatever that it's worth.
And all the dark will fade away.
The rumors and the lies.
And no one will remember if you even said goodbye.
What's the point in dying
When the world thinks you're already dead?
What's the point in crying
With the rain beating down on your head?
Greed. Hate. Lust.
Divine. Disgust. Distrust.
Happiness comes in a pill,
off a fifteen story windowsill.
You long until I die,
or at least until I try.
The afterworks told me nothing.
Our problem still persists.
So think about the stories,
and the bullshit that you'll miss.
What's the point in dying
When the world thinks you're already dead?
What's the point in crying
With the rain beating down on your head?
What's the point in lying
If no one believes what you say?
What's the point in dying
If you're already dead anyway?
If you're already dead anyway?
If you're already dead anyway?
I hope you will remember me.
At least say so to comfort me.
You say goodbye so easily.
It's now or never.
It may seem really pitiful but,
life became too beautiful.
The pain of love unbearable.
It's now or never.
Gone forever...
You can do whatever you want your not stuck with me
I'll tell you one thing we'd make history you
You and me
Your getting closer now
It's getting better now
But your still so far gone
And I am to the point where I don't even wanna know
Where you are or where your goin baby
Same old story
I am to the point where I don't even wanna see
Your face anymore, anymore
I don't wanna live with regret which
Is why my life is a mess
When all you want is more (more more more)
Your getting closer now, still getting better now
But your still
But your still so far gone
And I am to the point where I don't even wanna know
Where you are or where your goin baby
Same old story
I am to the point where I don't even wanna see
Your face anymore, anymore
Your so far gone
But I'm moving on
I, I never, never felt so alive without
Without you by my side
I never, I never felt so alive
